RE: RUGER in 350 rem mag
Hi Mr D:
The stock does not have a cheek piece, but it is not the ugly buck rogers (old) style either. The barrel and action are stainless, but I had it bead blasted to get rid of the shine. The dealer I bought it from received it this year as a new rifle, but the serial number indicates a 2003 manufacture date.
I am not quite sure where it will fit in the hunting lineup. I only have about 100 rounds through it. I expect to use it on elk hunts in the timber this year.

Thanks for the info on your all weather.
I am not too keen on the shine of stainless either. I have several synthetic stocks and laminates but never ordered stainless for the glare factor.

Got the 350 yesterday.
Iam VERY pleased in both its look and size.
This years model has the 22 in barrel that I was looking for even though it is a magnum. The gun is actually shorterby about a half inch than the Rem 7600 thatI was going to buy.
It weighs in at 7 lbs and will be ideal for what I need it for.
All I have to do is scope it and get some shots on paper.
I cant wait.

I think all the ruger 350s were actually made in2002/2003,
Iharvested moose and several other big game animials with it compareing it to the .338-06 that i also owned in a Ruger 77. (the .338-06 wasn't "factory built" by Ruger) In the end i liked the .338-06's better penetration on big game (brown bears) and sold the 350...
Useing NP's it should do very well on most big game animials...

Sorry for the lack of clarity in my mention of manufacture dates. I was referring to the .350s appearing on the racks, NIB today. I purchased one, and have looked at a few others from different stores and they all have serial numbers that place the date of manufacture as 2002/2003.

CE,
Ruger's web site does list serial numbers indicating manufacturing dates for 2005 but I too havent seen any models with such serial numbers.
I just purchased my 350 rem mag and the 789 serial number indicates a 2003 date.

Terry--you could be right. I saw in Outdoor Life they were chambered for 35 Whelen. Maybe they were mistaken. I don't claim to be agun expert. I've looked at the Browning in 358, but don't particularly care for the BLRlines. Maybe someday, it's a strong action --
