RE: Less expensive rifles

Out of those two vangard hands down. However i wouldalso look at theTikka t3 before you buy it is a great gun. It is a tad more but still very affordable but your budget will decide. However if you like the vangard it could by a good gun as well. But the gun cause of the feel in your hands and fit. Not for the least amount of $$ in the end you won't be happy with it. Remington makes good rifles however I would deffintily stay away from the 710. Very cheap, you will not be happy in the long run. For the most part you get what you pay for in a riffle so spend as much as you can budget and you will be more happy in the long run.

RE: Less expensive rifles

There have been some very good, and detailed explainations of the different features of the various rifles mentioned. I would have to say you guys know your guns. The Tikka is a great rifle, I don't know enough about the 710 Rem to comment although it's been around a while and if it were really bad I would think Remington would have dropped it by now.I know the Savage will on average out shoot many much more expensive rifles, though it isn't amoung the prettiest of guns, isn't beauty in the eye of the beholder. I know the Vanguard comes with an accuracy gurantee, which I would be suspecious of until I saw it shoot myself. My best advice would be to put your hands on as many of these rifles as possiable and shoot what you can of them, then buy the one you like best. I'm a nut for a tight group, but truthfully any of the guns mentioned are probably more than accurate enough for hunting!
