Default Scope Mounting Question

Hello everyone,
I just bought a stevens model 2007mm Rem Mag. I ordered weaver #46 scope mounts and 1" scope rings with a quick detach. Well last night i was mounting the scope and noticed that the rings were about 1/4-1/2 inch too far apart. The scope is a bushnell sharpshooter 3x-9x-32mm. I talked to weaver and they told meI need to use the Weaver Dual Extension Rings product # 49061. Each extension saddle(bottom half of the ring) will move the scope 1/2" either direction. Does this mean thatI will need to buy new ringsalong with the extension?Any of you have this problem or have any inputs on this?

No. You just get the extensions and replace the bottom half of the rings you have now. Another easy fix to this problem can sometimes be had if you know someone with a milling machine. Just mill another 3/16" slotacross one of the bases - either 3/8" forward of the rear one or 3/8" back of the front one - whichever gives the best eye relief.

weaver makes a front extension base for the 110. I almost always use that instead of the extension ring. Weaver extension rings are a little bulky and clumsy looking.

That is why I always buy a matching scope and rings...all of my rifles and some of my shotguns where Leupold scopes and Leupold rings. That way I don't have any of that trouble.
