RE: Favorite 30-06 cartrage
The most accurate load for my 30-06 is the Federal 180gr PowerShok (blue box) rounds. Problem is, I can't find them locally, so I will be trying the Federal Fusion in the same bullet weight to see how they do.

RE: Favorite 30-06 cartrage
I roll my own, thank you. And I tend to be on the opinion that for big game, you should use one load out of your 30-06. Instead of wondering where the bullet is going to impact, you should know. The is very little a decent 180 grain bullet out of a 30-06 wont kill. Since I have one load, one bullet, one rifle....I know my drops.
When considering reloading for the 30-06 one is faced ith an incredible amount of choices. Hundreds of bullets. A few dozen powders. Not an infinite amount of combinations, but lets agree it is mind boggling. Since I have very little time for ball type powders, due to their tendency to change with temperature, I cut down on afe of the available powders. My favorite 06 powder is H-4350. Hornady lists 55.3 grains as being maximum. I admit I load a bit over that. Considering that 30-06 loads are designed to be safe in rifles that are significantly weaker than a modern rifle, I have settled on a load of 57 grains of H4350 and a 180 grain pill. |

I have settled on a load of 57 grains of H4350 and a 180 grain pill. :D:D:D:D:DI like the faster burning IMR 4350 and 165gr pill. |

RE: Favorite 30-06 cartrage
I've never shot a factory cartridge in a .30-06, but my favorite handload (so far) is as follows:
165 gr. Hornady Interbond Lapua Brass Fed 210M primer 58 grs. of H4350 |
RE: Favorite 30-06 cartrage
If I have to shoot factory stuff, I stick with the Green Box stuff.
I tend to like my own using 165gr Sierra HPBT Gameking for everything. |
RE: Favorite 30-06 cartrage
150-180 gr. Rem Core Lokt.

RE: Favorite 30-06 cartrage
The best factory load I've found for my 700 BDL is the Remington 165 grain CoreLokt. My best handload for this rifle is the 165 grain CoreLokt bullet sitting on top of 49.8 grains IMR4064 powder, Federal 210 primers and either Winchester or Remington cases.

RE: Favorite 30-06 cartrage
Rem 700 with a Hornady 130gr Spire point or Speer 150gr Hot-cor! Both these bullets shoots lights out on accuracyfrom my rifle and really do a number on deer.
