Rem. 1100 vs. 11-87
 

I'm interested in the 20 ga. below (11-87) mostly for small game hunting (rabbit & squirrel), but am interested in the diff. between the 1100 and 1187. I really like the 1187 Premier 20, but am wondering what's better forsmall game, a 26" or 28" barrel? Also, it's $625 which ain't cheap by any means. Are there any comparable guns that are a little less? Finally, how do the 1187 & 1100 perform?

These guns are very similar, except that the 11-87 can handle a wider variety of loads and is, therefore, a better mousetrap IMO. You will also find these shotguns to amoung the softest recoiling anywhere. They work pretty well, buy you have to keep them clean and lubed. You might pick up a couple of spare o-rings from Brownell's to have around - they will fix most functioning problems that cleaning/oiling won't.

Thanks for the heads up. What's better for rabbit hunting, 26" or 28" barrel?

They say most modern shotshells can burn all their powder in 21" of barrel, so the onlyreason you need the longer tube is for swing and balance. I would lean toward 26" for upland game and rabbits. Probably go with the longer one for waterfowl.
