I've owned both, and believe it or not the deer can't tell the difference between the two when you whack them with 'em! They are both very good deer killers!

I've used a 6MM for over 20 years to hunt deer and my brother has used a 243 for the same amount of time. With the same shot placement,we haven't seen a difference between the two calibers. Comes down to personal preference I guess.

I would have to say 6mm I like different things the 6mm walks allover the 243 better range better ballistics just better all around in my opinion chad
