Been years ago but my son started with a new england 30-30. He broke a firing pin (to much dry firing per gunsmith) but other than that it shot fine. I believe at least at the time you could swap barrels on them

Yes. Cenetrfire, shotgun, and muzzleloader barrels are interchangeable on the newer model rifles(Serial number starting with N, "I think" or higher)with an SB2 frame. It's recommended to have the factory fit thebarrels to your frame.

I had a .233that would shoot pretty good (average 1.5" for 5 shot 100 yard groups) for a $200 gun.

I bought a NEF in 243 this summer and Love it! I shot a large doe with it at 160 yards. It keeps groups right around an inch at 100. It is more accureate than I am. Anyway, you can get additional barrels for them at the tune of 90 dollars a piece but you must send them the action without the barrel and they will fit it for you. Good rifles for the dough. EJw

Yep good guns for the money i agree& as said also you can get barrels for around $90(or less plain shotgun barrels etc) If you send them in . My 223 handi rifle shots pretty well to me & so far no problems.

I own one in a slug gun, 12 ga heavy barrel. I really like it, simple accurate and dependable. Not to mention the price was right.

I recently sold my NEF .223 heavy barrel varmint to a friend for his son. The gun shot 7/8 to 1 1/8 " groups at 100 yards all day long. Never gave me any trouble and was fun to shoot. Hard to beat for the money.

Ya know I like T/C's better, but it is that $500.00 for a single shot I cant seem to reconcile with. They are prettier and feel better but the extra barrel program kinda stinks, the price I mean. EJ

My dad's wanting one just as a muzzleloader. Any opinions? Right now he shoots a CVA Optima. Is the NEF a better choice?
