Ruger 22 conversions
I've got a couple of Ruger 10/22's and I was considering purchasing one of the conversion kit's. I've seen a few advertised that include the stock and .920 barrel and all that's req'd is your reciever.
Has anyone done this before? After spending the money upgrading yourbarrel, should you do any workon the trigger mechanism? |
RE: Ruger 22 conversions

RE: Ruger 22 conversions
I just ordered the Butler Creek stock & barrel conversion kit. Now I need to find a scope. I looked at some scopes that say they are designed for rim fire rifles, but I'm not sure I know the difference. Look like they range from about $30 to $100 bucks. Any suggestions??
Do you think the new barrel is what tighten your groups or did the Volquartsen hammer & trigger kit really make that much difference? Cabela's has them for $200, but I'm not sure I want to invest that much money in this gun, I've already got over $200 sunk and that's more than the gun cost new. |
RE: Ruger 22 conversions
The barrel is by farthe biggest difference. The trigger kit just lightens and smoothes the pull.

RE: Ruger 22 conversions
Shot my 10/22 last night. By far the worst trigger I've ever pulled, but for some reason I keep on keeping on... It's a cool little gun!

RE: Ruger 22 conversions
You probley dont want to spend what I did but I would not touch a butler creek barrel! It all started for me when I seen a cool 10/22 conversion at a local pawn shop it had a hogue stock and butlercreek barrel. long story short I threw the BC in the dumpster It is not carbon fiber it is some kind of plastic it now has a magnum research barrel (makers of the desert eagle) and TRUE CARBON FIBER
clark custom triger bolt buffer and so on. It shoots scary well at 50. And I know also have a 10/22 magnum converted to .17 hmr with same barrel and stock and in no wind days it will out shoot any centerfire I own at 100! and by a very large margin! Ther is a lot of better barrels out there than the BC go to rimfirecentrel.com and read. lots of good knowledgable people there! trust me buy youa barrel andbuy a stock by hogue you can get some very good prices from warner guns here http://www.outdoorguides.com/outdoor/rug1022.htm |
RE: Ruger 22 conversions
My butler creek barrel is fluted stainless.I bought it at aclose out sale because the price of the barrel and stock were too low to pass up.I am perfectly happy with 1/2" groups at 50 yards for a 22 rimfire.
