Savage 22-250

What do you guys think about the Savage Model 12 FVSS with a stainless, heavy, fluted barrel with sythetic stock and the new accutrigger in 22-250? Has anyone had any problems with it or just post your success stories.

It's a great rifle. Do you need the 22-250 or would the 223 work just as well for you? I only ask because in my opinion, the 250 isn't worth the extra powder it takes to push the same bullet. I like the 2223 the best, cheaper ammo, cheaper brass and more of it. Less powder when reloading.

There are many on here that will disagree with me on that, but that's just the way I feel. The 22-250 definitely has a flatter trajectory, but it doesn't make that much difference under 300 yards. If you shoot more than that, then maybe you'd want it.

I have the Mod 12FVSS in .223 and I agree with Mainehunt...don't see a reason to go 22-250 over 223 really. Either way...the 12FVSS is a great gun. I love the accu-trigger.

I have the 12vss varminter with the choate stock in the 22-250. Mine was pre-accu-trigger, and it came from the factory with a custom trigger (sharpshooter, if my memory serves me).

Anyway, I strapped a Swift 8-32x 50mm scope onto it, and set my trigger at about 14 oz.

Without sounding too boastful, I'll just say that it's the most accurate rifle I've ever fired. I have taken about 75 groundhogs, 1 coyote and 2 deer with it.

I did the shoot, clean, shoot, clean 20x barrel break-in, and it will mickey-mouse endlesslyat 100 yds with factory Rem. ammo.

Heavy, yes, but supremely accurate.

I did get a chance to pull the accu-trigger, and I give it very high marks for a factory trigger - the best out there right now.
