Pros- Short stiff action, accurate, would be a great flat-shooting deer rifle.

Cons- VERY expensive factory ammo, Very expensive brass, and VERY expensive factory ammo. Oh.....sorry, I already said that. I guess it just sticks out in my mind that the ammo is twice the price of "regular" ammo.

The 300wsm is a great cartridge for use on game up to and including moose and elk.It offers almost the same ballistics as the 300winmag but the 300win mag offers a far greater variety of factory loads if you don't handload.

I dont reload so the 300 win mag whould be better to go with ?Also how does the 300 win mag compare to the 7mm mag?

I love my .300WSM --- I've shot a .30-06 for 25 years, and sometimes shoot a .30-30 too, but for hunting fields where you may have a shot over 300 yards, that .300 is bad news. It doesn't kick all that worse than my .30-06, and it's dumped every deer I've shot in their tracks. It's accurate, and hits like a ton of bricks.

Yes the ammo is a little more expensive, but to me it's worth it. Other than that, I can't think of a single "con".

The 7mmremmag and 300win mag offer nearly identical trajectories with bullets of similar sectional density. The 300 offers a little more power and a little more recoil. For deer, the 7mmremmag is more than powerful enough.

At longer ranges energy levels for 300 WM and 7mm RM are pretty close. 7mm ammo is cheaper with less recoil. I chose 7mm when I had the 300 and 7mm to choose from, I'm not dissapointed with what I picked. A 7mm will do almost everything a 300 will do with less kick and more ammo for your money, especially if you don't reload.
