RE: 1911 .45's
more than once i have heard that the kimber is a great gun that shoots really well with good ammo. but the springfield will shoot garbage ammo all day longandnever miss a beat. i have yet to find anyammothat will not fireor cycle my springfield. it's just a great fun gun. tough to beat for the price.:)

RE: 1911 .45's
I dont know. For the price of the Quality type of Kimber. I do believe I would compare my two custom Colts. Not the Para or the new Spring Fields. I do know that you can buy a boreing nothing on it Kimber for around $700.00, but for anouther $300 to $400 you could have a nice custom made whatever the type suited to your type of shooting, gun.
Just my thoughts. hunter338 |
RE: 1911 .45's
I got a Springfield GI .45 this year and I really like it. I have had a Gold Cup Series 70 since 1982, and if I am careful I can shoot almost as well with the GI as with the Gold Cup. The trigger of course does not compare, nor do the sights, but the GI is inherently accurate if you can see the miserable little sights and can deal with the trigger.
I bought the GI because I wanted a "take anywhere" 1911. The WWII lok is way cool. It is very reasonably priced for what it is. I agree with others, however, that if you are looking for a target pistol you are better off buying an upgraded model to start with. |

RE: 1911 .45's
Threewords........SIG or GLOCK, thats all you need to know.
|
RE: 1911 .45's
Sig or Glock huh? Sorry but nothing compares to a good 1911. ;)
You can do anything to a Springfield that you can do to any other 1911. Night sights, adjustable competition sights, grip safeties, ambi safeties, custom bull barrels, one piece guide rods, different hammers, compensators, etc... etc... etc... |
RE: 1911 .45's
Get a Kimber. I have a eclipse custom II and it rocks. I have shot about 6k round through it and it has never jammed. And Iv'e shot every thing from cheapo wolf painted case ammo to custom handloads. I would trust that gun with my life. Iv'e owned everything from taurus to S&W to beretta and I now own a Kimber. It will probably be the last handgun I ever buy. Well,..I guess I shoud not say that! lol. There is always a cooler gun than you have out there!
