Wich rifle shoots best in 308 cal?

Bolt.

Lever.

Semiauto.

Single Shot Break.

And what brand shoots best?

Like Browning or Winchester or Remington Etc.

And what ammunition to.

And not cost an arm & leg.

No person could possibly answer your question with any certainty.I will however inform you that tikka rifles are reasonably priced and must shoot 1" groups before being sold.I don't know of any other rifle that sells for a similar price that must meet that standard.However that certainlydoesn't mean that other rifles won't shoot better than that.

My preference is the bolt action, but the 308 is an inherently accurate caliber. Shop around with different manufacturers rifles. Each will have a distinctive feel with stock configuration, weight and balance. A rifle that fits you well will make you a better shooter. I prefer a barrel heavy, shorter stock rifle for accuracy.

for years i've heard guys say that the best shooting gun had to be a bolt action. well the new AR's sure proved that wrong. but i still like the remington 700 models. i have a 700 in a .308 caliber on a composite stock that shoots great. it seems to shoot the federal 150 or 180 grains the best. about the only shells it did not like were remingtons. figure that one out. i think thebest guns fora good pricewould besavages or the remingtons. i believe they still can be had for around $400.00. you could spend much more for a rifle. but why i"ll never know.:)

Really.So which action wins the most benchrest shoots?Which one holds the most benchrestrecords?Yes it is possible to make a very accurate AR,but it is also very possible to make an even more accurate bolt action rifle.

Impossible to answer those questions!
No doubt, the bolt guns are more accurate than other type actions! Sincethere are no moving action parts in a singleshot, they can be great too!
For brands of guns, that can be mostly a personal preference.
And here's where it really gets sticky; different guns, like different ammo! What shoots good in one, may not be worth a shet in others!
My M-70 .308 shoots the good old Core-Loct's better than all the other brands costing twice as much!

The NEF handi rifle in .308 is a good shooter or at least the ones I've seen. I don't own one, but my Brother in law and a buddy do. I'm unsure of the price on them, as both were "traded" for. As far as which shoots the best, the way I've always heard it, the less moving parts in the action, the more uniform the shots fired.....that would the single shot.

In reality, most guns made today are pretty good guns. I used to hear guys say that Wal Mart guns, of anymake,were lower grade. The fact is, gun manufacturers can't afford to sell inferior guns anywhere. If Wal mart sells more guns than any other retailer and you were the gunmaker...would you make second class guns for them to sell to the public?

man.. ya know the minute i typed that in about the AR's i knew it was going to wake up some old schoolers. do ya think that the vass numbers and years of use have something to do with the records. what's more accurate a one hole group with a bolt or a one hole group with a semi. years ago the semi was behind but not anymore. believe it or not it's not just the gun. you need a shooter behind it to make it shoot well.

Are these the types of AR that you refer to?Look very closely and you will see that they are really bolt action rifles built on the AR chassis.Why do you suppose that anyone would convert an AR to a bolt action if the AR was just as accurate as a semi auto?

Or, to look at it another way, why would you use an AR as a platform for a competition grade bolt gun if conventional bolt guns are so great. :)

BTW - I rebarreled one of these Tubb 2000 rifles this summer. What an amazing piece of engineering.
