RE: Hornady light mag

Bigbuck, I used the 165 grain Hornady light mag in 30-06 to put a good lung shot on a 227 lb buck last week from 150 yards.

Was a definate fatal shot, but he did run off about 100 yards. I caught up to him shorlty after I shot him and finished him off with a second. After I skinned the deer, I could clearly see the entry points for both bullets with significant bone damage in the ribcage... there were no exit points, and I did not recover either bullet. My conclusion is that both bullets remained behind in the lung since I saved both the heart and liver after field dressing.

I would say they did their job well and plan on using them more for deer. Here are some pics of the deer :D

chma---- Glad they worked for you--didn't group real well for me in my 700 CDL. Shot about 1 1/2" groups. Same old story---different guns, different loads, etc-----
