Remington 700 barrel treating
 
I am an engineering student at Ferris State University. I would like to learn about cryoginic treating. I would like to get teh barrel of my remington 700 treated if it doesn't come from the factory aready treated.
Any info will be appreciated.

g251 welcome to the forums, there was a study about the procedure several years ago, i think it was in guns and ammo, the best i remember it was a controlled process and took the barrel down to a certian temp and then brought it back up on a controlled time scale, i'll dig and see if i can find the article,it was very interesting, i don't recall the cost involved or the % of benefit, but i'll look;)

Knight is doing this on some of their black powder rifles . They say it increases accuracy and makes cleanup easyer . They back it up allso with an accuracy gaurnty which is tighter for those models , so there must be something to it .

No Remington does not chryo treat their barrels but you should read this if you are interested.

I have heard about the benefit of this treatment but thought it would be a very expensive thing to do to a rifle. After reading this article I find that it costs only about $50 per barrel I think I will have to send ane or two out sometime.
