Actually according to the ziess website the conquests other than the 3x9x40 have a constant 3.5" of eye relief.According to the leupold website the vxiii3.5x10x40 has an eye relief of 3.5" at 10x and 4.4" at 3.5x.In other words they both have the same minumum eye relief of 3.5".The 3x9x40 conquest is the clear winner herewith a constant 4" of eye relief or a minimum eye relief of 4".

I can also see B.C. as well.
When I did my post.I was referring to only the Zeiss Conquest3x9x40 and Leupold VXiii 3.5x10x40 because those were the two that were meant to be discussed from the topic.However I didn't present myself that way when I wrote the first time.
The Zeiss Conquest I knew had a 4" constant eye relief.
However I didn't know Leupolds VXiii 3.5x10x40 was a variable eye relief..
As you pointed out.The eye relief will decrease as the magnification increases..
So at 3.5x it will have a 4.4 inch and at 10x it will have a 3.5
inch.But really its a wash, cause the power will most likely be set on 5 or 6
for the most part,and that will pretty much give a 4 inch eye relief or close to it.
My choice would be Leupold because of that option of longer eye relief at lower powers.
Havethe Dealer to throw in the Scope Caps and Rubber eye guard ring for FREE..Plus get him to giveyou a deal on those Light Intensifiers and maybe at cost.:D

I posted this in another thread (burris vs. Leupold), but it concerns warranty and I have the same question here. I have no doubt that Zeiss is good or better than a comparably priced Leupold. My guess is that both are really excellent and any purchase of either would be entirely satisfactory in terms of function. it comes down to personal preference and..... Warranty

What are people's actual experience with Zeiss' warranty? I am SO pleased with warranty service that Leupold gives. They have a lifetime, noquestions asked warranty that applies to any owner, not only the original owner. I boughtmy Leupoldscope used in 1988. No proof of purchase. I sent it in for a general going over a couple of years ago. They completely went through it and sent it back EXPRESS for no charge. They prioritized it because I had a time deadline for a hunt and turned it around in 48 hours. There is absolutely no way I could have gotten better service, and I understand this is business as usual for Leupold. This is worth something and has made me a loyal customer - Although I have no doubt there are scopes as good as Leupold, some better for sure. But, I'll have to be sold that any other scope is not only a better scope, but has as good service after the sale. Just a thought on something that also adds value to a scope.

To be honest my 3x10 scopes are only ever used at 3x or 10x.I always have my scope set at 3x and if the conditions call for more magnification,I adjust it to 10x.I never use the settings in between.

I had a ziess scope damaged in a horsewreck andthe scope was repaired and returned very promptly at no charge.A friend had one damaged when it was dropped down a flight of stairs in his home and he was also very pleased with the service and the fact that the repairs were done free of charge.

Glad to hear it. What I would suspect with a quality company like Zeiss. I was just curious because of my perfect experience with Leupold - and as I said, stuff like that (whether by Zeiss, Leupold or other) really does make a difference in overall satisfaction.

I own Leupold's,but I had the chance to use a Zeiss last season. My next QUALITY SCOPEI buy will be a ZEISS...

I was at the range this morning with both Leupolds and Zeiss'. Leupold does make a great scope, but I will take a Zeiss hands down for my money. This opinion is based on clarity and light gathering. As far as durability, I have never had a minutes trouble out of any scope that I have ever owned.

And besides it would be very embarrassing topay more than 10% for a ziess and say its not as good:D
