RE: Ruger-- Savage rifles???????????????
Go with a Savage. My experience with Rugers are some are good, some are really bad. With the newer Savage rifles I have yet to see a bad one. I work at a shooting range and see a fair number of rifles.

RE: Ruger-- Savage rifles???????????????
I have delt with both Ruger and Savage firearms and in my oppinion there is no comparesion. In my experences a Ruger rifle will out shoot a Savage any day of the week. I recently puchaced a Ruger M77 form my sister cambered in 280, and it is a tack driver. The Savages that i've seen in action however have rattled themselves to pieces (literally) and have been unable to hold a tite groups.I hope that helps.

RE: Ruger-- Savage rifles???????????????
I have 2 Ruger 77's and 2 of the new Stevens 200's. The Stevens cost $260..7mm-08 and 25-06....very good hunting rifles. My Ruger 260 Rem cost over $500. All are very accurate. Best value are the Stevens.

RE: Ruger-- Savage rifles???????????????
savage model 110 is aggod gun i own one in 7mm. as the price goes they range bout 350 or less. im very satisfied i have put a few extas on mine and it just gets better. i have a bipod which makes me shoot twice as good. another good caliber to look for would be a 257 roberts or a 25-06. the o6 is the better cartridge in my opinion at 350 yds it needs little adjustment i dont no how familiar u are with them but its a 30-06 casing necked down to the .25 caliber diameter. handloads and good steady gun control makes for a deadly combo. i have heard nothing but good things bout this caliber. the 257 is a good long range caliber as well. if ur wanting long range in short mags the 223 wssm or wsm and 243 wssm are good guns my buddy owns a win 243 wssm featherlight and it has minimal kick and is very acutrate and lighte weight as well as good trajectory. so in my opinion go for a savage 110 in 25-06. o this gun has a scope on it to. 1shot

RE: Ruger-- Savage rifles???????????????
tbuck, If I were you I would opt for the Savage. A great accurate rifle and not as pricey as the Brownings. I don't know how big your daughter is, but the .260 or the 7mm-08 should do the trick. I have rifles made by Browning, Remington, Ruger, Savage and Marlin.
My last 4 rifle purchases have been Savages and I am not disappointed at all. They may not be the prettiest girls at the ball but they are accurate and reliable. The Savage youth may be just what your daughter needs. |
RE: Ruger-- Savage rifles???????????????
I love my savage 110 with acutrigger in '06. Less than 1m oa with nosler partition 180 grains. I am sure the 160 grainers would shoot better. But the ruger is a much better representation of the Mauser 98 which we all know is the best hunting bolt platform. I think they will both shoot better than you can!
BTW I don't buy japanese guns (because the Jap govt. doesnt allow thier people gun rights) but I have to admit the A-bolt is awfully pretty and shoots well! OKCMCO |
RE: Ruger-- Savage rifles???????????????
I would go with a Savage probably in 243 but the 25-06 is a good gun.

RE: Ruger-- Savage rifles???????????????
I have a savage .270 and It has been my new favorite rifle a couple of years now. Its not the most beautiful rifle on the maket, but it sure comes close to beingone of the most accurate. I don't think theres a more accurate gun for the price.

ORIGINAL: semi i have a savage in 7mm-08, it's quickly becoming my favorite rifle. Great easy shooting caliber, and the savage is very accurate. RIGHT out of the box. So much so it amazed me. |
