RE: 22-250 vs. 243
Fast, I don't have to call Zrex out! He has killed more deer with a .243
than anyone on this Forum. I have been in the field over 50yrs and have
taken my share with a .243. It's not what you shoot, it's how you shoot!

RE: 22-250 vs. 243
It all depends on the shooter and gun. The 243 can shoot farther but the 22-250 often is the most accurate provided there is no wind. BUT, when there is wind the 243 or any bigger calibers will almost always dominate.
This picture is a group from my Rem 700 VLS in 22-250 5 shots at 100 yards benchrest. I have no problem hitting PDs out to 400 yards with no wind, however with wind it's not as easy so that's when I use my 300 win mag.

RE: 22-250 vs. 243
I have shot some great groups with the .22-250 at 100 yards. With its standard 1:14 twist, it is limited to bullets lighter than 60 grains. And at 400 yards, the lighter bullets often don't group real well. Even if they shoot one hole at 100 yards. The .243, however, can shoot bullets up to 100 grains with its standard 1:10 twist. At 400 yards and beyond, I'd be betting on the .243 to produce the best groups.
