Which 1911 style 45ACP?
I am going to purchase a 1911 style auto in 45ACP and was wanting some opinions as to which gun you would suggest. I know Kimbers are fine (I have one of their 22LRs), but I don't want to spend that much on one of their pistols. Perhaps your experience with Rugers, Springfield, Taurus, etc. So, which would you get and WHY? Thanks.

springfield YES, Llama Yes, Tuarus NO!!!, Ruger Maybe, I have a Kimber Tactical II 45. I love it but it just sits in the case cause its to pretty to scratch up. I would ask what your going to use it for and how much you have to spend.

Llama over a Taurus????????????[:o][:o][:o][:o][:o]
I wouldn't embarrass my attacker by shooting him with a Llama.;) If I wanted a 1911 and didn't have a pile of cash I would most definetly look at Springfields. They are a very well built firearm and won't break the bank. You can get the GI model for less than $400 if you look around. Charles Daly also makes a pretty decent 1911 and doesn't cost a pile of cash either. Lots of features other companies charge lots of extra for. http://charlesdaly.com/html/products...1911_field.asp |

Colt, Springfield, Kimber for a medium priced pistol that probably won't give you any problems.
Cheapy pistol that will more likely run right than not- Norinco |
RE: Which 1911 style 45ACP?
Kimber pistols start at about $600 and go up from there. This is not much more than a lot of other 1911 pistols. If I was going to buy one I would spend a little more on a Kimber.

Llama!?! Llama!?!? I've never actually heard anyone recommend one of these before. I really think you have to draw a line somewhere and a Llama is WAY below where your line should be drawn. As stated elsewhere here, you don't have to buy a $1200 Kimber but, for $600, you can find some nice shooter .45's. Let us know what you find.

i HATE utarus with passion. i suggest Llama if its just gonna be tossed around. My buddy has one and its shoots pretty nice. I would take my kimber over it anyday but still a nice shooting little pistol; and for a little over 200bux you cant say much on the price. Still i would agree with Bigbulls, get a kimber or springfield first.

Of the ones you mention, the Springfield is at the top of the list.

RE: Which 1911 style 45ACP?
Since you've eliminated Kimber I would look to the Springfield & next the Charles Daly in that order.

RE: Which 1911 style 45ACP?
I second the Springfields. The Mil-Tech 1911-A1 is a great pistol at a greater price.
