I think a mushroom forum would do well, there are more edible mushrooms than just morels. Also maybe it could be about all edible items asparagus, fiddle heads and such...

I think thats a good idea. I know there are wild onions in my area (just south of Dallas, TX). I would be realy interested in what else is out there.

Threads about mushrooms can be posted in the Camp Cooking section. Or even the Off Season.

Love Morels HAve you ever tried chantrells mazataukies or hedgehogs yet?

Great eats i pick them quite a bit when out hiking or hunting and fungi.com is a great place if you have a desire to grow your own.

Best advice is though go with someone who knows first dont eat one if you are not 100% sure there edible.

Maybe we could get a good consensus on weather there are enough people interested in a mushroom forum. Just a thought

Let's keep things on topic gentlemen. If there's enough justification for a mushroom forum then maybe the Admins will entertain the idea.

IMO, I can't see morels getting an entire forum.

I think a sticky or a sub forum, appearing in camp cooking or the soon to return Off Season forum would work well. When morels start popping up, a morel fan could ask a mod to start a sub forum or sticky thread. When morel season ends, that feature can be closed.

Clearly, morel hunting falls within the hunting/fishing culture we have here. It would be a nice service to Morel fans to have some feature for them. But it is too narrow a topic, again IMO, for an entire forum for itself.
