Default my buddy bill

i met bill some years back, he had had a severe accident. he had fallen under a traincar severing both legs.they managed to save 8 inches of his left leg, 10 inches of his right leg, from crotch down.he had lost everything home, family, car, money. a very bitter person. at the time i was having my left hand rebuilt.(it had been severly broken.)bill was walking on the stumps using two cutoff canes.well i decided to take the bull by the horns, so i asked him if he wanted to go fishing.he said im a cripple and cant walk that far. so some buddies got together and built him a scooter ,we used shopping cart wheels so it wood turn.and put a seatbelt that would buckle over his stubs. it was big enough so he could carry a baitbucker a tackle box, and two poles. he still used his two canes to move it. this was great for fishing on peers.bill became a different man. me or a buddy fished with bill a lot. after about 5 yrs bill said he would like to drive again. well we got our heads together and figured out controls that he could work with his right stub(,two flat levers with rods that ran to brake and accelator). his stub sat between them. move his stub toward the driver door was the brake away was the gas.it worked great.we used a ford wagon. bill had it down pat in about three days.he took the test and got a handicap opps.it was great to see bill pull up to the dock ,swing out ,oper the back door pullout that scooter load it up and come out on the piers ,say howdy, and start fishing.everyone has problems. but with a little help and determination, you can do it too. my prayers are with you at all times expecially when you get ready to try.
