Default Pa. PGC ,needs to get there act together

If a disabled hunter wants to use his a ATV on Pa. public gamelands ,the Atv has to meet specific Regs. They have to be a certain weight,HP,State inspected ,and have a special permit certification. In order for me to afford a ATV that meets the State Requirements I would have to spend 8,000 on a ATV,thats ridiculous.I dont know many rich handicapped people. In fact some of the guys I know are on SSI and that system dont allow you to have any vehicle and money in back worth over 2000.00.The State wont allow them special motorized chairs on statelands. If you have a certified ATV Then you can get on to gameland road system, but when you want to get further into the woods, thats against the law to go a little off road. What good does that do.I can drive my truck to them areas.Anyother states have such laws. How do you guys get you ATV's loaded and unloaded off your trailer or pickup truck? And do you have to take someone with you?

cardeer...I agree 100%! The PGC has to wake up and smell the coffee! I hunt from a ATV because of my disability and the game lands are out of the question because of the &quot;Laws&quot;. I think they should &quot;try&quot; hunting one season useing the same laws we have to follow...then the laws would change! I wish they would &quot;walk&quot; a mile in my shoes...<img src=icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle>

Hunt Safe!

Gimby, the two areas of gamelands I know are near Shartelsville near hamburg in Northern Berks and one in chester county,Yes not all gamelands have road access for handicap.Thes places you are allowed to take youe vehicle on the dirt roads ,but not even pull off in a log trail to watch the brush. The 4 wheeler must meet certain specifications as far as weight and wheel base and stuff.Till you get the ATV ,a trailer and a proper vehicle to pull it I could pay a outfitter in Texas to take me.I tried the gamelands in Chester county last year with my truck.Parked on the road, all the signs said no motorized vehicles may pull off the dirt road.I found a crossing, but every 15 minutes a logging truck came through and I had to move. Then 2 wardens came by at different times and checked me out for the proper permits.Wath a joke!!!
