RE: I am disabled and would like to chat
I live in Mississippi...I was in my college class when I became a member of hunting.net, and I was in class when I messaged the forum...so, I am so surprised that I received a reply this quickly to me being a new member...I also replied to a message about a guy wanting to know what is a good crossbow...well I have several deer hunters in my college class so I asked them...they sent me to a website for crossbows, and I left the website address in the message reply that I sent...so, e-mail me at anytime - my email address is [email protected]

Welcome BJ_Friley you will like it here as everyone is great. I agree with deadshot just getting out is the best medicine. I wish you good luck with your hunting.

RE: I am disabled and would like to chat
thanks for your response...it is raining again today (election day - Nov 2)...so it might get cold enough to go hunting....i went to the bank today and got a money order to send in to the Mississippi Dept of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks to receive a new Hunter's Education Card...so, as soon as I get the card, I will go hunting...God Bless and Be Safe

RE: I am disabled and would like to chat
BJ I feel thats the best thing you could do as I love it when I can get out and be around Gods creatures it makes me feel good. I also take anti depressants, I had alot of depression after my disability and find if I dont go and do some things I like once in a while the anti depressants dont work so I am constantly out hunting or at the gun range and am also getting into black powder fire arms as something else to do to keep me happy. My youngest son is bi polar so I can relate a little to your disability. My son is 18 and he knows that he must make himself get up and go do someting that he enjoys and it helps him alot , when he gets home he is in a great mood and tells me all about his great day. So what you are doing is great and keep it up and stay with it youll be happier in the long run. Good luck and God bless you.Jimmy

RE: I am disabled and would like to chat
Hi, BJ-
I can relate! I have been diagnosed with depression/anxiety, and it is a constant battle. You have got to commit yourself to beating it, and it's a long road. I would suggest that you set your goals for your hunt as ONLY being a time to relax and enjoy the outdoors. If you set the taking of a deer as your goal, and don't get one, that may set you up for a depressive episode. I speak from experience. I come home more often than not just about ready to throw my bow/flyrod/gun away, but I know that isn't the right answer and it's not healthy. Remember - you're fighting a DISORDER - it's NOT you!!!!! |
RE: I am disabled and would like to chat
Thanks for the advice on going just to get out and relax in the good old outdoors...I will go out there to enjoy the fresh air and if I kill me game the good but if I don't atleast I have had fresh air to breath.
God Bless and Be Careful BJ |

RE: I am disabled and would like to chat
:)Hello B_J,, i am Katbones and i just started coming to this forum the other day. My wife is Bi-Polar and man o man this is one "vicious" illness. I am paranoid schizophrenic with multiple personality disorders,, and i finally learned that my medications are so necessary for my survival.I was first diagnosed in 1990 and stayed in Denial until a suicide attempt in 1998,, this is when i realised that Meds. and counseling were the ticket to my freedom from the "old Life".
I hope we can start communicating soon,, i love to talk and talk LOL,, about anything. See ya around;) |
RE: I am disabled and would like to chat
I have been skunked a lot more times than getting any thing .
Thats why its called hunting and not killing . I am disabled also. Mine has to do with my back - diabetets - blood pressure - brain damage from being on a ventalater for over a month and weak heart muscles and my kidneys are going out they leak protein like crazzy and some other things I can't remember right now. lol Some days I get sick and all I can do is lay in bed. It does get depressing espesaly when you can't go to work like regular people. Espesaly not having enaugh money to pay bills and buy food for my children. Then You look for something you can do and theres just nothing out there. Then I want to go back to school but the disability people treaten to cut off my disability payments for going back to school to better my self. It makes you want to pull your hair out. The dr. wont sign a release for me to return back to work. One Dr. said with the meds I take and the things that are wrong with me he wouldn't recomend that I even drive a car. Oh Well thats enaugh venting for now. |
RE: I am disabled and would like to chat
I know how you feel jrbsr , some days I dont want to get out of bed. I am on disablity and my wife works but that isnt enough sometimes. I found selling things on ebay is a great way to make alittle extra cash with out uncle sam finding out. if you keep the money in your paypal or only except money orders then your golden. I have been out all this week bow hunting and I have not seen a GD thing . My friend I go with got one the first day we went out. Lucky SOB, on that first day I did see a 4 pointer but my arrow slipped of my rest and fell to the ground. NOT MY BEST DAY hunting . Any way I hope you feel better and get out more. With xmas comming up you should find things to sell on ebay now is the time.

RE: I am disabled and would like to chat
Hi BJ_Friley,
I am also disabled and just found this site to talk to others. I know you talk about the heat. It must be hot in Misissippi. I was severally depressed or many years. This is the first year I found out about organizations for the disabled. They have been very uplifting. I am physically challenged and warm weather is very bad for me. I miss going out in warm weather. Enjoy the warm weather. God bless and always be hopeful |
RE: I am disabled and would like to chat
Ican. I sent you a PM. I think I have a newer Email address and I don't know how to check to see what address they have for me or how to change it. Thanks
