Your bow hunter checking in. Almost got a big one last Friday. I think he is 115" to 120". Good for my area.
Friday afternoon I took off work early and hit my stand. About 45 minutes after settling in I had 4 yearlings, a doe and a 4 pointer come in to browse under me. The buck turned with his head down toward the doe to sniff. The doe was about 7 feet away with her back to him and she spun around and they both started grunting at each other with their heads down. Then all of a sudden both stood up on their hind legs and started swinging their front legs at each other very rapidly smacking their hooves over and over again. It was very cool to see 20 feet in front of me.
Then 15 min later the big 8 point I have been hunting comes out a different path then the rest at 54 yards and proceeds to graze in the opposite direction of my stand.
I got down and was able to stalk him within 45 yards but there were just to many eyes on me so I let them go.
On Saturday someone decided to mow land they dont own near my stand and spooked every deer in my area.
I moved my stand closer to where the buck travels so I may get a shoot this week if I can get out of work early. I got some bow practice in with all of my gear on last Sunday to make sure I am ready. I shot a 3" group at 50 yards with 4 arrows right from the start. Yup, I am ready.
