ShadowAce

Thanks for checking the team in. Does this mean you volunteered for captain ?? LOL

Team 5

I did notice that for all the teams, we have gotten the 3rd most in hits but are a fairly quiet group with 40 posts. The two teams with the most hits seem to be on the windy, hot air side and would explain why they get more hits.;) I think the competition is keeping a good eye on us.:D

When does your bow season start?? Ours starts on Sept 3rd and goes till Jan 2nd. I've got a lot of time to shot a good buck and have permission for close to 20,000 acres of private land to hunt and 1500 acres of public land within 10-15 mile from my house. Not many bowhunters in my area. Not including my son ( it will be his first bow season ) , only 5 or 6 other bowhunters and most don't have permission for much of the private land. Pretty quiet here which is good for me. I will have a lot of time to hunt. Wife has already been warned it will be a lonely fall/early winter for her!! LOL My number one goal is to have fun hunting with my son and seeing he has ever oppertunity to shot his first bow deer. Shooting a good buck is the other main goal but is second in priority due to the first goal. There should be quite a few chance through as we have located 11 bucks that go 140 or better. We have been doing serious summer scouting and I am more prepared then ever. Should be a great year for deer hunting for both goals.

Good luck to you and your son. You're right, your sons first kill should take priority. A nice buck would be a nice icing on the cake though!:D Our season runs from Sept. 18- Jan. 3.

Hey mammasboy, you've been involved in this from the beginning, how about you be the captain?

Here's a picture of last year's buck. I saw two others that were much bigger, but never got a shot. I took this guy from the ground at 13 yards two days before the end of the season, which was really the last day I had to hunt. He had a broken tine, but was pretty nice for my last day of hunting.

Here's one of the ones that I believe may be in the 120 range this year. I took this picture (sorry for the poor quality) last February after all the seasons were over. I saw him a few more times through March and have seen a buck that I believe to be him a few times already this year.

Those are nice. Hope you get into something like that this year!

Thanks Shadowace. They're not the biggest bucks posted on this board, but hopefully they'll help our cause. I saw one brute last year that was definite magazine cover material, but never saw him again. He was an older buck, judging from the darkness of his coat and the gray around his muzzle, probably 4-5 years old. He was thirty yards out but through too much brush to even attempt a shot. In the back of mind I'm hoping he made it through and I get a chance at him, but in the meantime I'm banking on those that I do see.
