Default My New Toy Just Came !!

Well finally took the plunge into the world of crossbows, timing must be right cause my back has been acting up. I will not give up my Mathews !!!

I looked at many brands and models from low, mid and high price. I will admit I was locked on the Ravin, but being this is my first crossbow, and not 100% sold on using it 100% of the time I couldn't convince myself to spend nearly $2000. I paid $330, that is with a online coupon from Optics Planet, not including the $50 rebate.

Friend of mine being in the same boat as me purchased this crossbow for the same reason as me, he was surprised how well made it was, and after few days of hunting with the compound in Illinois he took his crossbow out, and at first light took a big buck.

Last week I went to his house to look over this crossbow, and I too was surprised how well made it was, but this crossbow versus others I had shouldered fit me great. I ordered it from Optics Planet, Inc. now like him I will upgrade the quiver, and order bolts from South Shore Archery, he did upgrade the scope to a Hawk, and I might do the same, but I was shocked how clear the stock scope is, I have lots of time to decide.

I will put it together in the next couple of days

Also there is a $50 mail in rebate on this model. That is in the mail already

I got one also for Christmas but I got the Sniper 370 lot of great reviews on it seems to be ok but the weather hasn't been good enough for me to get out and shoot it yet. I like it because of the adjustable stock I can stretch it out for me and shorten it up for my son that's 9 and wants to deer hunt

Nice one you got there! Good choice as I have the same and I'm more than happy with its performance.

Bhc

How about a review on the bow now that you've had it for a year

Sorry for the delay review, but just fully set it up a few weeks ago.

So I upgraded the quiver to a Kwikkee, and the scope to a SA SPORT 550 ILLUMINATED, to my surprise this scope is bright and crisp.

My friend has the same crossbow with custom bolts that cost $100 for 12. Now I didn't have time to have them made I decided on VICTORY DECIMATOR BOLTS from DICKS SPORTING GOODS, 6 for $20.00 on sale.

I sighted in at 20 yards, very tight group but the right, made adjustments and dead center with same tight groups. Moved out 30 and 40 yards, same tight groups perfect center, I was limited to 40 yards. My friend then asked me to shoot his custom bolts at the same distances and the shot the same, when needed he will purchase the VICTORY DECIMATORS.

I'm very happy and pleased with quality made crossbow and the accuracy, and I didn't kill my wallet, i reccomend this set up, more so if you don't want to kill your wallet.

Centerpoint Whisper 380: $250
Kwikkee Kiver: $18.00
SA SPORT 550 Scope: $54.00
VICTORY DECIMATOR: $20.00
Rage Hypodermic 2 Packs: $ 50.00

some lighted nocks will make you a LOT happier too IMO
they do wonders to watch arrows hit and find after a hit on pass thru's

and best of luck in upcoming hunts t!

this past friday was my last archery hunt for 2019 due family/holiday obligations......I don't normally take small bucks, but I wanted meat and pop my crossbow cherry.....shot was 25 yards while I was 25 feet in my treestand, he ran 60 yards and expired.

The deer was standing in the pines you see in the picture of my crossbow hanging
