Congrats on the deer, still have to ask. What did you do differently this time though. Are you aiming lower, closing the gap and taking shorter shots?

For the successful shot, it was actually a bit farther. Around 30 yards.

I did aim a bit lower, and the deer didn't duck at all. He did begin to run, and I think that contributed to me hitting a bit farther to the rear than I aimed, but it didn't alter it that much.

I also added string dampeners. I tested it before and after adding them and they reduced the noise around 5 dB.

Even though this season had a happy ending, I did order another crossbow. I got an empire beowulf. It came a couple days after I shot my deer. I've already chronographed it, and it goes around 340 fps. It has better groups, much quieter, and I really like it overall. I'm looking forward to using it next year.

Again, thanks to everyone that offered suggestions and input.

200 fps does seem to be a lot slower for any bow. Good idea of going to a new, faster bow!

And to the uninformed, bolts are solid metal shafts without any fletchings, while arrows do have fletchings and come in hollow aluminum and carbon shafts!! I guess some folks think calling them bolts sounds cool, NOT! JMHO.
