5 most important features of a hunting crossbow
Hey everyone,
I am wandering what everyone considers to be the top 5 most important features of a hunting crossbow. Think of the features that make a hunt successful or more comfortable. Is it more important that a crossbow is more reliable than accurate etc. Thanks for your opinion!! |
1. Weight of crossbow
2. Maneuverability 3. User friendly ( the fit ) 4. The ease of cocking (crank) 5. Customer Service Those are my 5 things of a crossbow that I look at. |
1). Ergonomics, bow design, user friendliness
2). Weight 3). Tuning / adjustment (and staying there once set) 4). Quality of accessories such as scope, quiver, sling, arrows, etc 5). Cost and CS |
Hey guys thanks for the replies so far!
Would you guys consider the cocking procedure of a crossbow as a downside, or something that should be improved? |
Good question! Mine is straight forward and rather easy so, to me, it's a non-issue. Others may disagree.

Hey Guys,
You guys might have wandered why I am asking all these questions and all, let me explain. I am a student from the University of Applied Sciences in Amsterdam and I study Mechanical Engineering. I originally did competition archery with my recurve bow and was shooting for two years in the national youth team of the Netherlands. After that I began to study and now I am doing my thesis on a product which I admire the most, the crossbow. I have a complete new crossbow design ready but want to make it as fieldproof as possible. It will deliver the reliability of a recurve and the compactness of a compound. The questions I ask on this forum are the first step towards a product which embraces all your needs in the field. In june I hope to discuss production etc. with a trustworthy manufacturer of crossbows to put this new design on the market. I hope you guys are still willing to help me and answer the following question: "If price is no longer a problem and you could buy any crossbow you want, which one will you buy?" Thanks for understanding and helping me out! Koproller |
For me it is:
Quality Simplicity Repeatable (some call this accuracy ) Maneuverable, handles |

I own a Ibex, very dependable, accurate, easy to set up and keep that way. Warranty is outstanding(never used it, hope that continues). It is somewhat cumbersome, but I would say that fits all crossbows as compared to a rifle or handgun. |

I also shoot a recurve because of the reliability easy servicing aspect. Would buy a recurve again as they fit my wants/needs. |
