waxing the entire string??

i know i'm not supposed to wax the center serving, the rail lube is supposed to take care of that. but what about the string where it goes around the wheels?, am i suppose to wax the string around the wheels or just up to the wheels? thanks

Waxing is intended to prevent the individual strands of the string from breaking down from friction by rubbing together. Wax as much of the string as you can-including the serving. Try Dalton's string conditioner, no rail lube needed. Apply, let soak in by rubbing gently between fingers.

Wax as much of the string as you can,
When old strings fray, its usually between te nock and the cams,
As other poster stated, strings are wound up and ususually friction within itself causes it to fray/fail, not always where they rub on the cams
