quite crossbow ??
 

Thinking about getting across getting a cross bow but worried about the noise . I been hunting archery for a long time .have Arthritis and tendonitis getting hard to draw bow alot, heard they are very loud when they are shoot. thanks for any help

They are loud by vert bow standards. Not much you can do to quiet them down, at least not to the point a deer won't hear them. Just the nature of the beast.

Before I got my crossbow (Parker Hornet Extreme) I was told how loud they were, but they don't seem that loud to me. Plus, they make noise suppressors which easily retrofit to most crossbows. So I would go get your bow and if it seems too loud, get the suppressor.

Whenever a deer has heard my crossbow go off it has been too late. If you keep your shots to a reasonable distance they usually do not have the time to jump the shot.

I have a 10 point, a Excalibur Exocet And a Parker Tornado, the suppressor quited the Tornado down about 50 percent the others have suppressors on but they did not help as much. As has been mentioned before if you keep your shot under 25 yds they are faster than the deers reaction time for sound,I personally do not shoot if they are looking right at me light is much faster than sound.

I dont think you can buy a crossbow based on noise with the hearing abilities of game. A strange noise in the woods is just that.

You'll need to hunt like you were using a old compound in that if their looking at you or are onskittish, it may be best to let them walk. Verses hitting them poorly and losing them.

The quietest crossbow I've used by FAR is the Barnett RC-150. It's a very small, entry level x-bow. Not necessarily a high-quality x-bow, but it is very, very quiet. Only shoots about 260 fps, but it is also very small and compact. My friend let me use his several years ago when the limbs on my Horton had cracked. Used it (the RC-150) to take a nice buck. Every other x-bow I've shot was pretty loud....
