Axiom ????
 

I own a Vixen with a Vari-zone scope, that compensates for speed, I shoot 100 gr. mechanical broadheads with Excal firebolt carbon arrows, fast and accurate. I just picked up a Axiom bow package, I watch the DVD and read the enclosed paper work, since the scope is set up to the speed of the Axiom, with no adjustment for arrow speed, and comes with 150 gr. field points and Firebolt carbon arrows, am I to assume the best performance would be to stay with everything 150 gr, field points and broadheads? With out speed adjustment on the scope a 100 gr. broadhead would not be as accurate? I have no problem moving up to 150 gr, I just want a fast accurate bow, what do you guys think.

Since the scope is set for 150 grs the arrow trajectory will be affected if you switch to 100 gr 'heads. It's not so much that accuracy may suffer, the arrows will fly faster and, therefore, hit slightly higher at comparable distances to those that weigh more. You certainly can use them, just need to determione at which distances they will hit right on (after you zero your scope's crosshairs at 20 yards).

Another thing you could do is switch to arrows with brass inserts. I believe the firebolts have aluminum inserts. Please correct me if Im wrong but I believe they are aluminum. If you went to the 110gr brass it will increase your FOC which is probably why the firebolts came with the heavier 150 gr heads. With the brass inserts and a 100gr - 125gr. BH & field point should get you pretty close to the same point of impact. But that would mean having to buy more arrows and new broadheads. This is just a thought. There are people on here with a lot more knowledge than me. But like I said I believe the firebolts have the much lighter aluminum inserts. Around 57gr I believe. Someone will probably chime in here again and hopefully correct me if my info isn't correct.

I sent a e-mail to Excal and they said I can use whatever gr broadhead I want. So I sight in 100 and alls well, them I'm good to go. Thanks for the replays.
