This thing looks real nice have not held one but it shoots 375 and is quiet you guys have any take I know it has a one year warranty not thrilled with that..

Wonder how it would compare to the parker tornado....

Do the predators shoot as good as the other bows in the same price range the 375 fps second really looks good

First, there are no free lunches. You get what you pay for. Predator may be fast but that speed comes at price: wear and tear on the bow. There must be reason why they only warranty it for one yr.
Speed isn't that important anyway, less than 300 ftps will get you complete passthoughs at 40 yards on deer. Anything more than that is overkill since most shots (should ) be taken under that distance; since sound travels twice as fast as the fastest crossbow.
Pick a bow that you are comfortable with, that has a good trigger, and a better support system...not ot mention lifetime warranty.

Was just curious on the predator I am purchasing the parker tornado but some of my friends think you have to have the fastest bow for hunting

So you are saying the faster the crossbow the more wear and tear ?
Do crossbows really have alot of maietenence with them? I also shoot my
high country compound and have very little maietenence .. Iam new to the
crossbows and trying to get as much info as I can

Barnett crossbows, no matter what model, have very lousy reputation for reliabilty and dependability There are a few people whoo have had reasonable luck with a Barnett. BUT........ most Barnetts do not hold together well for any length of time They warranty them for one year, so think about that.

If your friend is looking for speed he should look at a Strykeforce or Stryker by BowTec. Or a Phantom by TenPoint. All have a Life time warranty , great dependability and reliabilty and good customer service.

Did not know that barnett builds a cheap bowthat falls apart its a shame the pics and videos look really good but if it does not hold together its like throwing your money away..

My buddy likes the speed thing I told him to try the parker tornado it fast and small perfect for tree stand hunting were a small bow works nicely

Could you shoot lower weight bolts on the parker tornado to increase speed to 350 like the parker cyclone or would it hurt the bow

Yes, it will hurt the bow. I hate to say it, but if he wants a fast bow, buy a fast bow, but get one that will not blow up on him....and that means it will cost him more than a few hundred...

I just purchased a Barnett Penetrator it's a knockoff version of the Predator. I have heard alot of bad reports about Barnett, but I also hear things are turning around. My Penetrator shoots at 345 fps. and is the most accurate X bow to date I've shot. It is very quiet and the trigger is only at 3 1/2 lbs. Very smooth. I know there are alot of better X bows out there but for the price(complete set up for 450.00) I am very pleased so far. I agree speed is not the primary factor- accuracy is.It doesn't matter how fast a bolt is flying if it misses the target. Good luck to you and your friend.

Yes they do, esp the compounds. String has to be served, sometimes as often as 100 shots. Sting/cables need to be waxed regularly, screw tightened. You'll need access to a GOOD press just to serve the string because of their high pull weight. Recurves are much less maintenance intensive and more durable.

Okay looks like I need to buy a bow press to do maietenence any ones i should look at or were to buy?
