Ok guys now comes the problem with the CB arrows buried in the foam 3D targets.I am in need of some goodideas in how to remove these arrows. I've tried soaping the shafts,slik tips, and silicone . My arrow speed is around 330 fps and its taking 3 hands on a very short shaft to get it out. They come out great in the rag bag targets, but foam targets are a pain. I've even tried the rubber arrow pullers but they seem to be made for the larger aluminum shafts not the narrow carbon shafts. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I made my own and it REALLY works well.
Try lubing your arrows with Spider Venom, made for just that purpose.

X2 on both those products! Go light on the Venom, if it gets up the shafts, the pliers/puller slip. Use a hanky around shaft, problem solved, lol.

Hey Cossack thanks for the info.I went Dan Millerslinkto the pliers arrow puller and seen the puller.Its exactly what I was imagining that you could use and presto chango somebody already thought of it. Thanks so much for the help . I'm calling him tomorrow and ordering one. What I forgot to mention in my postwas that I have the Bag target (rag filled), that works great. They come right out. But when I would over toa friends place, he has about a dozen 3D targets set up in the woodsat varying distances. He's got deer,havilina,boar,bear and turkey foam targets. Most of the buds still have compound bows with the longer shafts. They pull out easily enough. But My cb arrows were always thelast ones to be pulled becausethey're such a pain on those 3D targets. So I feel you gave mesome good advice, you rock . Thanks again

Dan Miller's pliers are GREAT! I just got back from a week in the woods. No turkey. Shot my crossbow into a foam target I had up there. If I didn't have those pliers, my arrows would still be in the targets. (I was alone). No need for lube.

Sup Cossack ? Just ordered the pliers, shipping out Monday. Now trying to fix the next problem. Will throw a post up maybe on this one too. Heard about the Sims string silencers and limb dampeners. Talked to Cabelas and they say nothing will help the CB problem of noise. Are you using anything?? . I've got a Parker Tornado FYI. Glad you had your trusty pliers Ischa .

I shoot the Cyclone, among others, largely becsue it's relatively fast (355fps). You can spend a lot of time and energy trying to silence a crossbow and end up frustrated. That's largely because the sting is propelled so much faster than a vert. bow. String 'silencers' and limb savers will do very little in the way of dampening noise. Vibration, perhaps a little, not noise. What they do do is decrease the speed of the string, ergo the arrow. Aside from slowing the string, you could try filling the hollows in the stock with foam, etc.But even that won't do much to reduce noise. NOTHING, absolutley nothing, can be done to reduce the noise to the point that a deer won't hear it. And since noise travels much faster than an arrow, it's part of the "advantage" of using a crossbow.;)
I've finally come to the conclusion that speed of arrow is at least a partial answer to preventing deer jumping the string.(Get to 'em before they react). Next is keeping shooting distance reasonable (40 yard or less, shorter with slower bow) and, last, don't shoot until the target animal is relaex, not poised for flight.
You'll get used to it in time. Not that big of a deal anyway, you're highly unlikely to be able to recock the bow and shoot again if you do miss. One big reson why I like single shot rifles, handguns and now crossbows: One shot is that much more challenging. Made me a better hunter. Enjoy.

Thank Cossack for all the info. Thats MY reason for the CB option. The sooner you can reach out and touch someone (DEER), the better your chances are in bringing home sum dinner. Nice talkin to youagain, take care my friend .
