RE: SCOPES ON CROSSBOWS IN PA.
now that crossbow is legal in pa.we have to make best of it like when in-lines were allowed in archery season, not gun season.
i guess you can say,SPROUL THOSE SAME KNOTHEADS YOU TALK ABOUT ARE WOUNDING DEER WITH IN-LINES IN OCT ARCHERY. actually they are real good at getting doe in oct with in-line .in-lines are very accurate out to 150 yds. but those same hunters using the FLINTLOCK are terrible hunters.[:@] same hunters with 2 different weapons. the PGC should have made rule that the hunters have to go thru training with CROSSBOW. not only from a ETHICAL KILL view but for SAFETY of themselves and othersand on danger of ruining a bow. like DNK said, usually learning curve is 6 months to year on a crossbow. in that time a dry fire MAY ruin your bow or injury could happen too. i do sighting in for disabled in my basement ,up until now, only disabled could hunt with crossbow. you would not believe the things i see, some i did myself too:). worst being puttingfingers on rail, broken cocker ropes, over pulling rope and letting go,dry firing. compound shooters KNOW their yards. compound shooters that will change to crossbow KNOW their yards.. ethical crossbow hunters like on here KNOW their yards. will KNOTHEADS that dont practice and DONT know yards with crossbow take a close shot ,I DOUBT IT. but those same people are using a FLINTLOCK ON RUNNING DEER AT 50/150 YDS.[:@] |

RE: SCOPES ON CROSSBOWS IN PA.
I've been a bow hunter in Ohio for the last 7 years. Using both compound and crossbow. From what I've seen, I'm more accurate with my compound out to 25 yards, probablu becuase of inconsistencies in pulling the crossbow back. However I'm totally comfortable taking a shot at a deer out to 40 or 45 yards with my crossbow as I can keep it inside a four inch circle at 40 yards. I'm not that good with my compound yet. I do use a 4x scope. Before I had the scope I only took about 30 yards shots with the crossbow, I just wasn't to good with a peep sight.
