I am new to crossbow, wanted one for 20 years, after tons of research and talking to bow owners at local gun club, I got an excalibur. They are nice and light and if you think about it, with the compound crossbows parts do wear out. pick as many models out at local shops and decide for your self

Your best bet is call David at Wyverns Creations (603-659-0575)
it will be well worth the call to get the best answer for your needs!
He is very fair and can lead you on the right path in locateing the
information on the different crossbows out there and helping you
decide on whats best for you.He is about the most honest person
I have ever delt with when it comes to any kind of archery products.
Good luck on your search!

+1 I did just that and we talked for about 1/2 hour. He is a very nice and easy going man that is very helpful. After we talked for a while I came to a conclusion I will be getting the Desert Stryker from Bowtech. It looks to be the perfect hunting crossbow. A lot of crossbows are Very wide and the Desert Stryker is not Its slim by comparison. Speed is up there and very quiet at 350 FPS. I will be getting one in about 3 months as soon as the season is over here in NJ.

Best of luck and look at older posts too for info.

I shoot a( TEN POINT)cross bow. Extremely accurate and very fast. The down side is they are expensive.

Good luck!!!!!!

Personally I think the Excal Vortex is pretty much the perfect killing machine. Some of the Excals do somethings better but either way I'll always stick with Excals.

As I add to my collection of XBows, they will all be Excals...IMO None better!

Problem with this 'best crossbow' question is there is no such thing as 'best.' We're all different shapes and sizes with different ideas on what we want, need and/or can afford. What is 'best' to one might be either lacking in quality, be uncomfortable to shoot, or be so pricey as to be out of the question for someone else. All brands/models will have their fans and detractors.

Having said that.... If I could suggest one brand to be a bit leery of, it would be Barnett. And I'm another Excalibur fan.

A lot of excalibur fans out there, and I almost bought one. I ended up with a tenpoint flex, because the flex was like getting three bows in one...I think someone said it earlier...the best bow is the one that lets you accomplish what you want. Do you want small and light, big and fast, compound or recurve, one bow for all of your needs or multiple bows? My only advice would be to go with a quality brand...from what I was able to gather, both excalibur and tenpoint seem to be top notch...my experience with tenpoint has been good, as they have been super responsive to any of my questions. If you could find a bow you like from either of them, I would be suprised if you were disappointed.

I think the best value for the money is the Excalibur Vixen but I still think the Vortex is the perfect killing machine.

The Excalibur Phoenix will stack one arrow into the other almost every shot and kill any deer walking. Its simple , reliable and great value. The company is also great to deal with.
