Horton quiver issue

So i bought a used Horton Hunter Express SL crossbow this weekend. This will be the first time I go hunting for anything but I'm stoked to do so. If it's a bad choice feel free to dog it, but I've heard pretty good things about Horton so I figured I'd go with it for the first time.

I went to the store and bought broadheads, a quiver, some extra field points to practice and some bolts. Only trouble I've found with any of it was that the quiver wouldn't go on anywhere. I went back to the store to return the quiver and found out that Horton makes a mounting plate or something that comes with the bow to mount a quiver but has special screws and when you have that you can mount any quiver to it. The other problem was that the store doesn't carry it. Horton is taking a minute or 90 to respond so I thought I'd post here to see if anyone knew what it was that I need and where I can get it. I live in Columbus, OH and not far from Vance's so I thought about stopping in there to ask them if they had what I needed but I don't even know what to call it. I'm sure they'd know if they saw it but there seem to be some rather knowledgable people on here.

The guys at the store said a couple stores that had them sometimes but I, of course, forgot the names of said stores.

Thanks in advance!

Ryan

I have two Horton crossbows, and I really like them.

On my Horton "Yukon", the quiver mount broke when I was installing it. For that one, I just carry the quiver in my back pack rather than on the xbow it's self. I always take the quiver off when I'm hunting anyway, it's just something else that can get snagged or cause noise.

Couldn't have said it better myself!:D

Not sure what the plate is called, but the one quiver that I did buy came with the plate and the screws. My newer Horton came with the quiver on it, both are the cam lock style.

It's not a Horton problem. Most off-the-shelf quivers require a (often unique) mounting plate to attach it to the bow.
The quiver that come with the bow when sold as a package comes with the plate, otherwise you'll need one that fits that bow and that quiver. (It's like car oil filters, each has their own) Some bows (e.g. Cyclone) require an additional bracket between the bow and plate. For best results, take the bow to someone who not just markets quivers but has or can order the appropriate plate to fit your Horton.

Thanks guys. The place I went to get all the bells and whistles for the bow was Dunham's and they were the people that told me Horton made a special plate and they also acted like the fact that it was a Horton meant that I got ripped off to begin with so it made me wonder who was full of it and I was just taking their word on the parts. I don't forsee them having any reason to lie to me about everything.

Anybody who has shot a crossbow has more experience than I do as of this second so I'll listen to everything and try to sort out the BS from the truth when I get all the info. Other than jabbing at the bow a little they were helpful. I don't think they lied to me. I'm just a second-opinion-and-then-I'll-make-a-judgement kind of guy. Thanks again!
