Crossbow forum has become SO quiet!!

I don't really know what happened but this was always such an active furum. It seems like possibly people have moved on to other sites or are too busy. It wasn't that long ago that everyone knew everyone else by name. I guess time changes things for whatever reason.Hunt hard and hunt safe....

I shot one bolt out of mine today, greased the rails, put my rage broadheads on my hunting bolts, put them in the quiver. Can't wait till saturday morning. Can only shoot does the first two weeks.

Likely because the archery deer season is open. However, I've been too busy fixin' dumb****'s crossbows to get out this w/e. I'll be in a stand tomorrow tho.

PS Had one yesterday with the brace well below the low mark, as a result the string was thrashed. "Gee, I thought it was supposed to be that way." To which I said "Have you read the manual." "Not yet, been too busy." (For the past year!~) SPIT!

I am a guilty one for not posting near as much as I used to. I April I finally got off of swing shift and now actually sleep at night! So all my nights of being up not able to sleep do not happen anymore. Spent lots of time up at three in the morning reading all the post and responding alot. Now that I am in the maintenance group and working straight days time seems almost gone anymore.

Another thing that has taken almost all of my net time is reloading. Bought a new savage 12 in 204 and have been learning reloading. I now can get many groups to make a sloppy hole at 100 yards. But deer season is creeping up on me and am about ready to put away the reloading stuff and prioritize my time to the deer hunting. I do miss the friendship we shared on here, have not really found it on any of the reloading forums I am posting on.

I was thinking the .17 HMR but everyone says that .204 is slicker than snot on glass.
I am in the market for a yote gun but I am thinking on kicking up to a .243 just cause I could use it for deer. Ah but that .204...
It sure is a great feeling to shoot 1 moa groups at 100 yards and it must be even sweeter with handloads

Don't forget your a crossbow guy though.

Ps.. Does that Savage have the accutrigger and heavy barrel. That's one companythat has really improved over the last 10 years.

John the 204 is a great gun and you will love it! I too almost bought a .17, but was hearing to much about wind drift and it does not do much past 200 yards. I was wanting a flat shooting medium range gun. The .204 is a half inch high at 100, zero at 200, only 3 to 4 inches low at 300 and 13 inches low at 400!, that is all easy ground hog guessing to me! I first bought a H&R to decide if centerfire was something I wanted to try and after liking it, but not getting any more consistent then .75 MOA @100 somehow became addicting, which Don did warn me about. So I bought a savage 12 and have been having a blast. Mine has never had factory ammo down it, only reloads. So far it is liking 39 grain SBK's and 30 grain Berger's. Here is a few pics of the addiction Don warned me about. Both of these are three shot groups at 100 yards.

Sorry, missed this...

Yes it has the accutrigger on it, and I had it further tuned down by the local gunsmith to a nice crisp one pound. It came being able to get down to 2.5 lbs, but 2.5 is still hard to pull and breath with will aiming at the same hole.

Here we go!!!! LOL! Next comes the bulk powders, then the shooting bench, then the high priced optics! Have fun Jason! Those Accutriggers are awesome!

Shooting bench, thats on the to do list of things to build!!

But I still can not muster up the desire to spend over three hundred on a scope. My Bushnell banner cost 160 or close, just about have myself talked into a 24X banner for 300, but can't imagine spending 500 to a 1000 on a scope. Somehow hope I never get to that point!

RE: Crossbow forum has become SO quiet!!

Those are sweet groups alright!!Off bags or a caldwell? I just don't have a rifle that shoots that sweet. The problem is that all of my guns shoot far better than I do. I near killed myself last year sighting in an 11/87 SP with a great Leopold 2X7 shotgun scope but it is darn tough sighting in something that kicks back.
I do have a sweet little Model Seven SS .308 that I had a muzzle break installed on and I need to hunker down and see what I can get out of her.
I have thought about buying one of the one at a time reloaders just for fun but factory ammo shoots better than me. I don't think I will ever be a 1 moa kinda guy. To much work and concentration.

Oh yeah I have a crossbow too but I am happy shooting 3 inch groups with that. That puts me right in the lungs everytime at 20 yards.

Geez, like a family reunion here! Jason, those are awesome groups! I'd say you got that puppy dialed in.

Planter: I started reloading w/ $9.95 Lee Loader in .218 Bee. $1500 later,.....lol. No comparison between .17 HMR and .204 Ruger. Probably load the .204's for what the .17's cost.

Flipped a 4 whlr over backwards a few days ago going bear hunting. Trashed my Y25. Complete goner, except for riser and limbs. freak accident, wish it had been another freak, I hurt like hell.

That made me hurt just reading it! I feel bad for ya, but I honestly keep thinking of how you had to feel when you seen your bow!! Thats a painful thought! I would have had to cry looking at the CB!

Don.. I bought the Model Seven SS .308 for the boy and had it shipped out by the dealer for the break. It was not a port job and the guy did a fine job when he cut the threads.
The boy will never hunt with me as he is to involved in crappy computors and not much else (sigh). I however love the gun although it sounds like a cannon if you stand next to the shooter.
My duaghter who will hunt with me soon loves the gun esp when shooting reduced recoil Rem ammo.

I also have a crossbow.

At least your son doesn't use a limited addition crossbow as an off-road shock absorber!:D
I had black stocked rifle just like you had but no brake. Nice rifle!

Go ahead, rub it in! BenGay would be better though. Got bruises on my back the size of a basketball.:D:D:D

But, I am still on "the green side". Actually, what I'm really worried about is my Boo Bumble Bee string I couldn't get off [no stirrup] before shipping the wreck to Miller.
