RE: Shooting deer
Being new to xbow hunting, I am having a problem trying to relateto this deer jump. When hunting for deer and I shoot them they jump after impact of the bullet. Are you telling me that the deer will jump when they hear the xbow and not because they have been shot???

RE: Shooting deer
thats correct ! some will jump the string its called, because they hear the sound before the arrow hits and go into their ducking mode to jump!

RE: Shooting deer
:DIt's called "string jump", but it's the ducking down they do prior to the actual jump that causes us to miss completely [best case scenario] or hit higher than we were aiming at on the animal. You cannot get an xbow quiet enough to change this, don't waste $ trying. Keep your shots to 20 yds or less starting out and aim for the heart, if they duck you still get the lungs. You might be able to find videos on youtube if you look hard enough. Amazing animals!

RE: Shooting deer
Thanks guys, I always thought the jump was in reaction tobeing shot. Does this happen when using a long bow? Not hunting with archery equipment makes me totally uninformed in this area.
But as with anything ask, get involved and learn from the best to change all that!!! |
RE: Shooting deer
it happens with any Bow they (deer) hear the sound from!
