Crossbow conversion
 

Just found the coolest thing: http://airowgun.com/paint.php
It's a device that converts a bow into an air rifle. The "arrow" is in facta piston. Shooting this "arrow" compressesair into a rifled tube. Ergo, an air rifle. Pretty impresive performance too.

So, how about this for crossbows? CB is far more "natural" for such application. The short stroke is also beneficial. Not to mention how great that deck groove will be for the barrel.

Looks interesting. However, I have a total aversion to pointing anything that shoots a people. Brought up that way; being a medic in 'Nam only comfired that. (Might just be fun to painball some deer tho).

Note that paintball is one option, but I"m talking about the AIRGUN option. Where the thingy shoots 0.22 pellets.

At 600-700 fps, it's matches a good air rifle. I guess a CB can do much better.

And consider more substantial bullets. If the CB can deliver a 400 grain arrow at 350fps, at the same energy it will send a 100gr bullet at 700fps, and a 40gr at 1100fps. that's exactly a 0.22LR performance.

Getting interesting, isnt it?

It can be used for practice, for small game and for plain plinking.

I'd just build a stonebow and use it to shoot paintballs (or ball bearings, baked clay balls, marbles, etc.) instead.;) It'd be a LOT cheaper than buying that thing![:-]
