Late 1990's Horton Yukon SL.
I bought it used, so I don't know how many shots - I've probably shot it 400 - 500 times. Old string broke while firing 2 years ago - cracked the limbs when it happened. Now new limbs & strings. String lasts a long time if you keep it waxed and rail lubricated. Accuracy is very good - main complaints are that the bow is very loud and doesn't shoot all that fast. |

Ok no Excal how about my ProFusion......All around Nice Compound CB...It has a Acu Draw but if you have bad roto cuff can be hard on the shoulder but it dose crank easy, not much you can do about the clicking sound except cock it before going in the woods, but if you turn it you can crank it with other hand/arm(be carefull)but I figured out how touse my Excal rope cocker on it and its way faster and easyer, hence like it better, now as far as shooting, its a very nice shooter at around 303-304fps.I find it way nicer to use in a smaller ground blind and a little nicer in the treestand but for stalking I do not like it as much as my Excal due to the fact small twiggs and such get caught in the cam's and your allways checking it,also not to big on the scope it came with so that had to go(much better now)....Over all its a well made and a very dependable bow witch I would recomend to anyone looking for a Compound CB between 650-850 set up and ready to shoot then hunt...............But I have to say since I found the Vortex and Y25 Ive become a little more on the Excal/recurve side....
One more thing.......You can change a string out in the field with a recurve were as a compound your S.O.L.....Something else to consider..... |
RE: CB Reviews
I'm still using an old Excal Exocet that I bought used in '99.
Replaced string several times, got a new Boo string to try this fall. Replaced limbs 2 years ago, probably didn't need to. Don't know how many times it's beenshot, but I do know it's killed 36 deer, 2 turkeys, 2 foxes and a rock...yeah I missed once:eek:...maybe twice;) xbowbarry |

Ouch!! :-) Downing a Desert Stryker in favor of a.....................Barnett
I don't believe I've seen Desert Strykers on salein the Sportsman Guide yet. Can't say that about Barnett. Which one is best?? IMO there is no one best crossbow. They all have their good and no so good features. I can't speak for Barnett and Horton as I've never seen one to date that I would want. The new Horton Recon is built like a tank and weighs half as much as a tank. If it weighed 3 lbs less I'd buy one. I really can't say which one I like the best. If I had to narrow it down to 2 crossbows it would be the ...........................................I can't do it!!!!!!!!!!! :-) |
