Horton crossbow recommendation
 

Iam in the market for a new Horton crossbow. I am choosing between the Legend HD Pro 175 and the Team Realtree 175. Both bows are in my price range and shoot 305fps (I was wanting a bow that shot a minimum of 300 fps). Which one would you recommend? Thank you for your input.

If at all possible go to a shop that sells Horton and try them out if they
will allow you to shoot them.See which one fits the best and then you decide what you want.:D

I have shouldered both and they both feel fine to me. The shop did not have a range, so shooting was not an option. Just curious if anyone has any experience with either of these bows. Theere's about a $70-80 difference between the two, with the Legend being more.

Depending on what Team Realtree package you looked at, the main differences are that the Legend HD Pro 175 comes with a scope, not a red dot, it comes with carbon arrows not aluminum ones, and it has a different stock configuration than the Team RT. You can get the Team Realtree with a scope if you want. That being said, I would get the bow with the stock that fits you the best. They are pretty much the same after that. Arrows are cheap in the grand scheme of things so don't base your decision on that. You will most likely be ordering more by the time hunting season comes anyways. Good Luck with your decision.

I have a Team Realtree 175 and love it. It is pretty awesome. I don't use the aluminum bolts that came with it. I bought some carbon bolts and they are very accurate. Good luck, Scott woody

i have horton ultra sl, dont make it anymore.

my limbs were split after about 50/60 shots.

it is deadly and feels good and vari zone scope is ok.

i feel that speed is not important,in fact ,faster is not better, just my opinion.

if you are shooting deer at 30 yds or less, you dont need speed.

quiet is NO.1 thing i would look at bow with being able to change a string being next.

Not on the list...but my Horton Recon is very quiet, easy to shoot, nicely balanced, interesting design.

Ah come on now you know you would rather have a Parker or Excalibur crossbow. :)

I have a legend HD 175. I love it. hits right where I want. Only problems are the noise (with almost all xbows) and the weight (gets heavy if you have a long walk to stand or like to move around while hunting.

Have you narrowed it down to those two from all that are available? In that price range you have a variety of different companies to choose from. (TenPoint, Parker, Excal)
Of the two you listed, I would pick the Legend. It has been around longer and weighs less.
