Questions about arrows (Newbie)

Does it matter how manyvanes there are on a crossbow arrow?
(I assume the vanes are the plastic flights!).

I have a Barnett Quad AVI and the ones supplied with it are 3 vanes.

Are all the screw in arrow points compatable with all crossbow arrows?

The Barnett Carbon Fibre ones are absolutely useless.
They are only lasting 2 shots each before shattering.

They are a mockery of a farce.

Are there any much stronger cheaper bolts?

I live in the UK and the bolts are at least twice the price of over in the US.

So I am wasting a lot of money that I don't have.

I don't care about accuracy, just strength.

I have only fired 10 shots with bows, in my life, so as you can imagine, accuracy is irrelevant to me.

Does it matter if use an 20'' bolt instead of a 22''?

3 vanes or feathers and the carbon arrows should be good. what are you shooting into that is so hard they shatter ? GT II are always good with brass inserts. i spect if your CB came with 22" then you should stay with that length

:DIt's not so much the length that matters but the weight, which is why Bnett uses 22" arrows. Think your bow needs 445 gr minmum. I'm w/ Mike, sounds like you need a better target or back stop.

In that bow, I'd stick with the 22".
As for the Barnetts arrows being usless...(as the others have said)...what the h$ll are you shooting into?
Barnett doesn't make their arrows, not sure who does..I'd guess Easton. In any case, the only time I've lost ANY arrow to damage like you note is when the arrow hits another "hard, inmovable object! And I do have some Barnett sold aluminum and C.F. arrows.

Best take a look at foam or bag type targets.

Hopefully...accuracy will come into your shooting desires.

Mike
