Vortex

Just did a swap with my Exocet 200 for a Vortex. Man this is a far better bow!
Also just got a Vixen Deluxe. All BLACK!

RE: Vortex

where is that big difference in these two bows?
Which things are better on vortex than on exocet 200?
tnx.

Dnk 03-22-2008 01:33 PM

RE: Vortex

The Vortex is shorter and balances better in my hands than the Exocet 200. It balances so well it feels like it is a couple of pounds lighter. Also being shorter it is easier to cock. The balance in your hands helps off-hand shooting.

RE: Vortex

aha :) ... anyway with exocet 200 is quite hard to aim....
it is not like aim-ing with a gun....a way more difficult.. ;) ...
dont know how the things are with vortex..soo, i asked... :)

*anyway "congrats" for your new bow ;)

I love my ExoMax...but I would like to add on a Vortex:)

RE: Vortex

Started with an Equinox, nice bow but 'clunky'. Switched to Vortex, MUCH better. Points and shoots well. The former was harsh, perhaps too much power. Vortex much smoother, still deadly accurate, but easier to hold steady.

RE: Vortex

I will not shoot any of my crossbows without them now. When we were at Dan's place I dry-fired the bow and Dan and Mike and I think Alton were yapping away and the noise did not get their attention. Dave(Xbowking) was slack-jawed in amazement. After the shot I was looking for my arrow in the target. The noise isn't much more than a normal shot. This is a positive indication that the STS absorbs the excess energy on a dry-fire which should help in protecting the bow limbs. The noise factor is a big thing for me. I hear loud noises all day and don't want to hear the annoying noise of a crossbow without silencing efforts when I am not at work.

just out of curiousity is it possible to swap a standard stock on a pheonix with a thumbhole stock? from what I understand most excal parts are the same and/or interchange but I'm not sure about the standard/thumbhole stocks...

if it is possible does anyone know where a guy could buy a stock and what they run?

Don's right, the thumbholes don't interchange w/ pistol grip standards. Your only alternative that I'm aware of is a Mark henegar custom and rthink he's booked pretty solid but don't know. I've had two of his pass through my hands, they are worth the money, imho. Start out about $225 for a pistol grip and $300 for a thumbhole if I recall right and it's been a year or three. They show up on Excal Trading Post once in a while.

ummmmmmmmmmmmmmm ................. I wonder what Mike is trying to say there Don. :D:D:D:D. UMMMMMMMMMM what help are you requiring :D:D

Sorry Don but I just could not resist that. But honestly, the balance of the bow is, it me, the most important fact other then reliability. This is why I have always found that the compound models to not be to my liking as their balance is off for me (too front heavy). I have never agreeded with the most power/the best theory like some people do, mostly because more power usually means more weight being leveraged out further from your body, which to me, is more uncomfortable.

Pretty soon Don you will have more bows then Digger :D:D:D

Tom, that ain't possible!
Don .................

1 + 1 = 2
+ 1 = 3
+ 2 = 4 :D:D:D:D:D

and so on .............. until you get up to and over what Digger owns. Never say that it isn't possible, cause you could make it so! :D:D:D .... Just ask Dan, I did make it to see him, correct.

Just having some fun anyway, a man never has enough toys, espically if they are hunting equipment.
