RE: Recurve Field Stringer?
On my Excal one end goes over the end of the bow, and the other end over the other end, then you pull the string like you are going to cock the bow it will pull up about 4" and cock, which will release tension on the string so it can be removed and replaced. Then with the Excals youlet the tension offof the stringer with your hand slowly, just pull back on the stringing device and holding it hit the trigger with your thumbslowly let your bow return to its orginal position, then remove your stringing device. You can also go to the Excal website they have videos that cover this subject.

RE: Recurve Field Stringer?
Coyote,
I also have an Excal and I would expect that the stringer is similar. Here is a link to a video library for the excalibur and you can see how the stringer works on the Excal. http://excaliburcrossbow.com/demo/listings.php?category_id=47 I hope this helps. Bob |
RE: Recurve Field Stringer?
I agree, the method that Excal uses should be exactly what is done, but I am curious as to what you do about the DFI. I am assuming that once it is strung you should have enough slack that you can pull up on it and clear the stringer, but if you are unstringing it you need to hold it open to allow the stringer to be let down. A short piece of an arrow shaft (wiht no point on it) slid under the DFI would hold it up while you let the stringer down to rest. Has TenPoint gotten back to you on this one yet???

RE: Recurve Field Stringer?
I unstring my Curve by putting my right foot in the stirrup, resting the left limb on my left foot (cant the bow to the left) grasping the right limb and pull it toward me enuff to slide the string down the limb to unstring and up the limb to string. Very easliy done and very little effort

RE: Recurve Field Stringer?
OK, from what I have been told, the TenPoint re-stringer works just like the Excal one (kinda figured) but when you go to release it you need to pull back on the stringer, hold up the dry fire tang and pull the trigger with your thumb. They mentioned that you can hold back the stringer with one hand and operate the DFI and the trigger with the other, but I think that would be harder to hold back the full weight of the bow with only one hand. Not sure if this helps
