Buzz Buster String Silencer

Got a set free with a order, has anybody tried them thought they might be pretty good since they are in the new Excalibur catalog.

Posted this on the excalibur forum too and bj who has his own archery shop and is a nice guy to deal with had this to say

i've use these for years...they're great...the more tattered and battered they get, the better they work...it'll change the twang into a thud and minimized the vibration ...i also use them on my trad and compound bows...

Wayne........

I'm wanting to use these on a compound crossbow and do not have a bow press so it will be a while before I can try them out.
Is there a way to split a string without the a press, it is not twisted.
Thanks Martin

There is a contraption I think is called a string separator that should work.

BTW, I have tried them, the felt pads for X bow string version. Did absolutely nothing to reduce noise on my Equinox. It did slow the string down so I was getting 5-10 fps slower (chroned, not estimate). And they were a devil to keep in place on my factory string (not Flemish) I even tried tying them on but they were off in less than 10 shots. Perhaps that bow was too powerful (225 draw weight) perhaps they would stay on better on a Flemmish srting. Whatever, given the lack of noise reduction I quit exprimenting.
