This thread has convinced me to go buy a new excal and get rid of my compound. You did the right thing and now I'm going to do the same.

Same here... although I already had my mind made up..lol I'm getting rid of my Horton T-realtree 175 and buying an Excal. I like the Horton, just like the Excals more, for easy maintenance and no need for a shop or press or rigging something up just to change the string or cables, etc. Can't afford to have both right now.Plus I do believe all the Excals are lighter than my Horton. I've been looking pretty hard lately to get the Excal. You did very good CrissyK!!! Don't worry to much. It's a GREAT Crossbow...wish I had it!

It's next to impossible to go wrong with any Excalibur product, and anyone who wouldn't appreciate such a thoughtful gift deserves to sleep on the couch for quite awhile. Given the choice of a recurve or compound style I'd choose the recurve every time.

Excals are the best, you did good.
He should be happy you got him something from the hunting department.
Do you have any sisters?;)

just a case of ole Dad not being familair with excals. I felt the same at first, but then did the research, and then bought the excal!

I felt the same and went out and bought one for myself. Got an Vortex which will be here in about 3 days. Will post with results after I go through the learning curve (been getting a little help from Pydpiper and Awshucks).

If he has any doubts wait till he shoots it and he will be sold. I have the same bow and have had a few compounds. The excal is my favorite hands down.
