Dad Connected!!

Today was Ohio's gun opener and I took dad out for a hunt. As many of you know that is familiar with my season I have been trying to get dad set up for a deer this year pretty hard. Well it started to rain last night and was raining pretty good this morning but we had our elevated blind set up and was nice and cozy! Sunrise was 7:30 and at 7:50 a nice four point came out at 75 yards. He stood broad side and dad took the shot. Hit high shoulder lower neck and the deer fell in its tracks! Was to excited to turn on camera, had it sitting there waiting, just forgot about it. Dad was on cloud nine and I was too!! Here is him and his first buck!!

I worked hard trying to pose that deer!! Dad was giving me funny looks and was wandering what in the heck I was doing to his deer! Them legs stiffen up fast and do not like to cooperate! Glad I was able to get it done!

Major Kudos to you and your dad!! I sure wish I had been able to hunt with my old man before he kicked off on us. You got memories that money can't buy that you will have forever.
You told us you were gonna put him on a deer if at all possible and you came thru. I can just see the expression on his face when you were stuffing the bucks tounge back in and posing him. My kids thought I was nuts when they saw me washing my last deers face with a GOOD facecloth and warm water.
Your a good son and dad must be as proud of you as he is of his buck.
Atta Boy to both of you!!

Hotburn, when I got my first racked buck, my hunting buddy took several pictures of course of my buck and we enjoyed those pictures almost the entire December I killed it. But when Christmas came around, what do you think his present was to me. That's right, a framed picture of my buck. All 8x10 of my glorious buck. I have treasured this picture above all others. Please, please do the same for your dad and wait till Christmas. It'll mean a lot more to him then. You are a good son for working so hard for him to get this buck. Congrats a ton man.

Yes you are right! I struggled to get the deer in that pose and he was still some what flexible, but well worth the work. When I shot my buck his legs would not cooperate and my brother was wanting to get home, it was dark and things where not working out, but I still regret not asking my brother to hold the deer as I tucked the legs and posed the deer, they was just to stiff and I could not get it done. With dads deer we had the deer at the truck and ready to put in, then I realized what I had did an started dragging the deer back to the edge of the swamp and he thought I was nuts for a second. Then when I was ground wrestling his deer he really thought I was nuts! Went to take the pic and he just bent over a little and looked up, I had to tell him to take a knee, he knew I had flipped my lid at that point! The pic is going to Wal-mart.com for a print, he will see what ten minuets worth of work for a pic got him, only ten minuets and a pic to hang on a wall with pride.

You started it last year Don, and then some guys in the regular forum preached on it, and it is well worth the effort for the pic. I even covered the high shoulder neck shot with the gun! I did have the willies as I jammed the bucks tongue down its throat, visions of lock jaw! LOL!! And yes john, that was my fourth trip back up to deer after I tried to take photo, dad was tired of getting rained on at that point! Did not have the nerve for a fifth to tell him to hold the head up more, figured I was pushing it with him! LOL!!
