Removing Factory Knock

I thought that this would be very simple, but it was a long time ago since I have removed a knock from a 2216 (2117) arrow. IF I remember correctly, we just used the flame from a candle to heat the knock then pull it out. I have 2216 factory arrows (excalibur) with the black knock. Is there a newer trick to do this, or do I just need to add more heat (longer time over flame).

I just received my tracer knocks and I want to exchange the knocks on a few arrows to be able to test them.

Thanks.

I've had good results using a heat gun, the kind used for removing paint. Heat mostly the nock and a bit on the back of the bolt in the vicinity of the nock until the glue softens. Keep the bolt turning as you do it.

Cossack beat me to it....But I use a little propane tourch with a pin point flame so I have more controll on the area Iam heating up....

Thanks guys, I got them removed and the TRACERS installed. Now just to get out and test them on a target. I was just a little worried on over heating the shafts in removing the factory knock.

The only thing you would have to beworried about is if you were removing nocks from carbon, there too much heat is a no-no....

I think AWSHUCKS had a good way once, at least I think it was him. He would thread a screw in the and and then take a flame to the screw and heat the nock from the inside and not damage the shaft. I think it was him, but it worked for him. I know you have it out, just wanted to share for future people. And give us a update on them nocks when you try them!

Jason is right, I got a threaded rod [8-32] at Ace hdwe, 6" long. Put 2" in vise, screw nock or insert on and heat well away from shaft w/ propane torch while pulling on the arrow gently. They will come out if not epoxied and they will burn your fingers if you try to unscrew them bare-handed!
