Broadhead recommendation
I just ordered an Excalibur Vortex and Excal Gold Tip Laser II arrows.
What are your broadhead recommendations for this set-up? |
RE: Broadhead recommendation
I have an excalibur phoenix and boss heads made by wasp fly like field points. Tough head too. They are the ones that excalibur recommends and puts in their accessory package.

RE: Broadhead recommendation
Well.....I tried alot of BH's as I have 5 hunters in my family.....but only to find out that the best flying out of my Exocet 200 is a cheap BH sold by Walmart called SABRE TITANIUM 125 gr......3pack for $ 9 bucks or so.
I was a firm believer in Muzzy's......no more. BOB |
RE: Broadhead recommendation
iam shooting the slick trick out of my Vortex......also have some wasp's i use with my other cb.

RE: Broadhead recommendation
This is a entrance hole from a Tekan II by G5. It is the only head I have shot out of my Vortex, flew great and did not need to try another. This head did fine and has been able to satisfy my mechanical B-Head itch I have had for several years. Would like to play with some Fixed blades and when I do The G5 Montech's will be first and then the slicks next. G5 and Slicks next because I dislike heads with aluminum in them. Good luck and let us know what you get and how it works.

RE: Broadhead recommendation
Its so hard to recommend B'Heads, everyone shoots abit different than another person. I will shoot and use Steelheads-Slicks- Spitfires-Tekan II's and the 1" 4 bladed Muzzy 100gr.

RE: Broadhead recommendation
Suggest a 4 bladed, fixed and rather small overall BH.Such BHs tend not to steer the bolt like larger ones did for me. That amounst to the Slick Trick magnum in 100 gr for me. I use the same bolts but made mine with 110 gr brass insert for higher FOC ( not the 45 gr aluminum insert) and 2" Blazer vanes. I also spray the back end with white laquer and overspray as short distance with florecent paint for better visability. Easier to see and adds little weight to the back lke wraps and lighted nocks do.These bolts fly like DARTS. Accuracy is simply awesome. So is terminal performance. This year I hit a big doe in the paunch (arrow deftected on a twig I overlooked) it went out just behind the off side lung. She went less than 20 yards lay down and expired in about 10 minutes.

RE: Broadhead recommendation
I happen to use the 100grSpitfires with my Horton. Make a huge wound channel.I put one right through a doe.But there's quite a few good ones out there. Really depends what type you want.
