New Xbow Hunter

Good morning everyone.

Im new to xbow hunting, I bought a new factory sealed in the boxbarnett quad 400 with all the bells a whisle for a 250 on ebay2 weeks before I went hunting on the 19th of october. The bow came in the day before I left for the lease. The only thing I had time to do was put it together. I sited her in at the leaseas soon as I got there. It took roughlyhour and half because; I was having problems with the scope; my bolts kept shooting left. But I fix that problem.

The morning hunt:

I get to my stand at 6am. not even 30 mins had gone buy, andthere was movementto left and right. I could faintly see the outlineof 4 deer.at 6:45 I could seethe deer were all doe's.At 7my feeder goes off, and all 4 bolt to the corn. I sat and watch these doe's for and hour eating in the hopes there was a buck inarea.I got tired of watching these doe's eat corn so, I picked the biggest one out.Put the crosshairs behide her front left leg and let her rip. itwas a perfect 20 yardshot. the bolt went clean through. and she ran 10 yards before dropping to ground.

The rest of the weekend went well, I saw a few buck, but they weren't close enought to shoot. There is a monster 8 point I hope to have in my crosshairs this weekend.

My girlfriends father has the picture of my kill. I will get him to send to me so I can post it.

Sounds like you had a good time. Keep up on shooting that CB, It may shoot different as you get it broke in and knowing your new tool is important. What B-Head where you using?

Thanks guys it was a blast taking my first kill with a Xbow. I know Barnett are not the talk of town when it comes to Xbow hunting. As i get better I plan to buy a excal Phoenix.

The arrows and broadheads i use are, carbon express maxium 22 inch bolts and the NAP 100gr thunderhead.

welcome to the forum and congrats on your deer!! Xbows are alot like women. They are all good, some are just a little sweeter than others. That was a killer price on a Quad.

Thank you for the welcome everyone.

Ive been bow hunting for10 years and it took me1 year before I got my first deer with a bow. but I never thought it would take me one morning to get my first kill with my xbow.

After I got off of work, I spent 2 hours shooting and getting to know the in's and out of the barnett. I practice 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 yard shot. The arrows are fly true a good 6 inch grouping and the scope is staying on the number from 10 to 40 yards.but when it came to the 50 yard shot, I was hitting high, but still in the kill zone. I can live with that. I must say the carbon express maxima 22 inch bolts are f**king great with nap thunderhead broadheads.

I just hope that monster 8 poke his head out or for that matter a big brute.
