horton crossbow

bought a horton huntermax 200 brand new from gander mtn last week. the thing is shooting high and low every time you shoot. 8 to 10 inch diff in shots. right and left never change.just up and down.they put a new scope on thinking it was that.still doing the same thing. the scope moves a 1/2 down and up everytime you shoot it.just wondering if that is normal with thedial system that they use. there sending it back to horton to see what is wrong. anybody have any ideas.

Yep had the same problem with mine. I took mine apart and tightened everything up nice and snug and now it don't do it anymore. Only thing I can figure out was there being to much freeplay before.

Had me almost pulling my hair out after every shot it seemed.

yeah i about turned that place into a carwash last wed. they wouldnt give me my money back and didint have another cb like that one to switch it out with. so i told them to send it back and get it right. they have a policy on bows no returns. i told them they should have sold me a good one. you pay that kind of money for somethingit should be ready to go.so im back to stick and string which is fine with me but they dont need to know that.

I went in Gander Mtn to buy broadheads , saw the price and left. The SAME exact pack of broadheads I bought from wal-mart for 6.49 was 12.99 in Gander MTN, I had to look at it and check the UPC just to be sure, I wonder what else they jack the prices up on like that.

Horton has great customer service, as you know gander mountain will be your problem. Most of the time people get there stuff back within a week when they deal with Horton, but going through GM I do not know how long it will take. It was a D-A-R thing, we see it alot in here. Your spring was off in it letting it move, or it was way to tight letting it not move and get stuck floating when shoot. You are also one of many who say GM customer service sucks! Sorry you are having trouble at this time!

The HunterMax 200 is a great CB.... Now let me state this, me and a buddy purchased ours, summer of 2006. Mine worked out super. Can hit with mine perfect all the time at any distance. BUT, his acted just like you stated about your arrows foating everywhere. He contacted Horton, and they were the best of folks. They worked with him and to find out, it was the scope & mount somehow. But they did do him right. And if you have anymore dealing with your crossbow, please go directly to Horton. They will make EVERYTHING right.
Are you using a Horton EZ-Winder to pull yours back? or as you know, the Winder pulls the strings back perfectly straight, which makes you shaft fly good.
When you sight in your bow, put the dial on the number 2, and go from there.
They told me to leave it at that number, and use the different lines on the scope to go from there >>>>>

yea, your problem can be fixed. GM wont do it, nor will they try. gave up on them a wile ago. were i live i had to travel about an hour to get the i dont care attitude. Horton is a good company dont let GM put there faults on sombody else. I dont belive they will be around long, not without customer service.[:@]

I had a red dotscope problem and pulled a nut out of my quiver mounting plate (don't ask!) lol. Anyway, Horton replaced the scope (new one is great, I think they reworked it before they sent it out.) and they are sending me a new mounting plate. No questions asked. Pretty good customer service. They didn't even ask when I bought the bow for the mounting plate deal. I been to GM in Fort Wayne, IN and am not impressed with their bow service dept. I found a place where a guy makes all custom strings, cables, etc. for whatever you need. He made me a real nice string and serving for $30 total. And had it ready the next morningwith only oneday before season opened.

I have a hortonTR 175that came with a red dot scope thatstopped working.Itook the spring out of the dail-a-range and replaced thetop rail screw with a 10 x 1 3/4 ss screw thourgh the scope mount (put dail on 0 and leave the pin in) put the vari-zone on and it will be the best thing you could ever do!This cb can hit quarters @ 30 yards now and shoots the same with any type of arrow carbon or alum. and field points or spitfires and slick tricks all hit the same.

Hey moeskeeter, we need them pics of how you did that! I think you have the system down how to do this the best. Don't want to mess with dads bow until after season.

"Wee Hah" as my 3 year old says as he is bailing off the couch. I say this everytime I see the word Pheonix now....I had a Horton once!!!!!

I've never had a problem with my dial-a-range. Also my 3 dots on my scope are right on with the yardage. They where a little off with the alum. bolts. When I went to the carbons and 100gr Spitfires the scope is dead on. When I changed scopes and restarted the sight in procedure it did change from the #2 position to the #1 position......

moeskeeter...
I too would be very interested in howyou "pin" or disable the dail-a-range feature. Mine seems to be acting up between shots and the dial doesn't seem to positively click into the numbers... seems like there something wrong in there. If I leave it on '0" it seems OK, but if I try any of the higher numbers, you better have a good back-up plan behind your target!
Thanks! Jeff
